Turkey Pinecone Thanksgiving Craft
This Turkey Pinecone Thanksgiving Craft is a really cute craft idea for Thanksgiving and so easy to make! Head out into your yard (or a park is a great place) and collect a variety of pine cones.
Place them on some newspaper and allow them to fully dry and for any bugs to escape. Spray with a clear coat (shellac) if desired. You can purchase these at the craft store too if you don’t have access to any free pine cones.
Supplies:
- Pipecleaners
- Pinecones
- Shellac – Clear Coat
- Construction Paper
- Glue
Directions:
Use orange and brown pipe cleaners for the head, beak and feet. Cut out feathers from colorful construction paper and attach with glue.
You could even turn this into a place card by writing the names of your family members on the feathers or have the child write what they are thankful for on the feathers!
Perfect for when you are COOKING the Thanksgiving Feast and need something for the kids to do to keep them busy and out of harms way. Not only that but you will be fostering learning at the same time. One idea is to set up a craft and learning station in your garage or basement so the kids can stay entertained and out of the way while you are busy cooking. Don’t have a garage or basement, no worries, find any free space or tuck them into the corner of the kitchen if necessary. Put tons of supplies out on a table and be sure to cover the table with newspaper or a plastic table cloth. You may need to cover the floor too. Pick up plastic tablecloths at the dollar store and then let them express themselves. Let the kids create some amazing Thanksgiving themed crafts and work on these worksheets and coloring pages while you are working on the meal.

This can be done with a large pompom glued on for the face, google eyes glued on and use a pipe cleaner rounded and glued to a thick popsicle stick so it will stand up and then hot glue feathers on it. So cute.
