Great Room – Stone Fireplace and Custom Built In
I love our Great Room – Stone Fireplace and Custom-Built In. Walking into our new home we selected a seeded glass pendant by Progress Lighting that really highlighted the space. It is a gorgeous three-light foyer pendant with clear seeded glass, delicate rope detailing and candle cluster in bowl. It is perfect for entry ways or kitchens. It has a brushed nickel finish. We chose a frosted prairie door with a transom window that we stained mahogany.

I am in love with our Great Room. When we designed this house, we decided to go with a more formal living room upstairs and casual family room in the basement. I couldn’t be happier with this decision. I like that it gives us a sitting area for visiting with guests and family when they come to visit. I decided to flip my existing sofa placement and I used the leather sofa that was in our basement for our great room and placed our sectional in our basement at the new house.
Our builder suggested the corner fireplace to conserve room and it was the perfect addition to the design. We went with a dry stacked stone fireplace and we absolutely LOVE it. Originally we were going to do a wood mantle but decided to go with the stone mantle and we are so happy we did. I have always wanted a mantle and now that we have one I am so happy with it. I can already see the stockings hung with care this year for the holidays!
We also decided to go with a built in next to the fireplace. This is something we went back and forth on because of the expense but it is something I really wanted. In the end, Tim insisted we do it and I am so thankful he did! This is where I showcase ALL of my treasures. Family heirlooms, photos and precious items that were passed down to my from my Grandparents, Aunts and parents. We also selected the Trevina Ceiling Fan by Progress Lighting for the great room. We love the clean look of its design and it is perfect for the high ceilings.
In our great room we have space for our Berea College table. We were gifted this as a wedding present and is one of our most treasured pieces of furniture. We framed a Happy Map to hang over the table and added a framed wedding photo and our wedding album.
Below the table is a Berea College stool which was also a wedding present and a Longaberger basket filled with wedding memoirs. The Happy Map ties the design together. It is Where Our Story Began, which was of course in Berea, KY and we get so many complements on it. It is very meaningful for us both to be back where we first met.
I hope you enjoyed a peak into our Great Room which is one of my favorite rooms of our new home.
Disclosure: We were provided product for our home by Happy Maps and Progress Lighting.
