COSI Review - Family Fun in Columbus, OH

Fun while learning?  This summer we took my son and niece to COSI Center of Science and Industry in Columbus, OH. I had been once as a child and didn’t remember how BIG COSI is! It was a great day. The kids really enjoyed our visit. There is a lot of walking and ground to cover at COSI. I would suggest wearing comfortable shoes and clothing for sure. There are so many great hands on activities and stations at COSI and you can get overwhelmed quickly. My advice is ask for a schedule at the front desk and just take your time.  COSI is not a place to rush through.  You will want to plan on a full day to be able see all of the attractions.

COSI Columbus, OH – Review:

I would also suggest packing lots of snacks, drinks and a picnic lunch. There are tables outside for a picnic and a cafeteria inside. Having snacks and drinks with us plus a packed lunch really saved us a lot of money. Of course you can also purchase food there however it was on the expensive side.  It was a great day of learning and we all had fun.  My kids really enjoyed “rat basketaball” and the submarine as a highlight or them.

My advice is that COSI is geared more to older kids than the really little ones however they have an area upstairs exclusively for little ones but we didn’t check it out due to the ages of our kids.  It is definitely an educational learning experience not an amusement type of attraction.  However I think it is a great road trip destination.

We also watched the Extreme Screen Film – Tornado Alley which was really cool!  That was my favorite part of the day.  It does cost additonal for the movie but we felt that it was worth the cost.  They sold popcorn and snacks before entering and if I had thought of it packing popcorn would have been a great but we did splurge on that.

We turned our trip into an overnight road trip and we stayed the the Drury Inn Hotel Columbus OH and you can see my full review.  I would suggest this as a weekend destination with the kids for sure!  On our next visit we want to add a trip to the Columbus Zoo too!

  1. We visited COSI when I was in 6th grade – and I’ve taken my kids once. It’s definitely a fun filled brain boggling adventure to Columbus that’s for sure.
