2015 Mazda CX-5 is great for travel

2015 Mazda CX-5 is the perfect family vehicle and great for travel

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 is great for travel. The 2015 Mazda CX-5 is the perfect family vehicle and great for travel! We had the opportunity to test drive it on our Ultimate Fall Break trip to Orlando, FL. We picked it up at the airport and quickly learned that we had plenty of room for our luggage and our boys. The trunk area is HUGE. We were able to hold 4 suitcases and had plenty of extra room to spare. The boys had so much fun test driving the vehicle all week and the hardest part was dropping it back off at the airport and saying goodbye.

One of the best features of this car is the amazing gas mileage that it got.  We found that it averaged 28 MPG for us during the week.  According to the manufacturer it provides the following gas mileage.

27 MPG – average
25 MPG – City
32 MPG – Highway

With this gas mileage it has a great fuel economy, and the average fuel cost is $1,950 per year.  With increasing gas prices that is a winner!  We were thrilled that we weren’t overspending on our vacation.

We found that the Mazda CX-5 had plenty of room.  Not only did it hold our luggage with no concern it also provided plenty of leg room and space for the boys in the back seat.   It was also really comfortable.  As you can see the boys found it comfortable too!  They even took a nap (or as we call it recharged their batteries).  We found it easy to drive and handled really well on the road.  The brakes were a little more sensitive than our current vehicles but otherwise that was the only thing that took us some getting used too.

Several of our favorite features included the key less start, rear-view backup camera and the GPS system.  This made our road trip a little less stressful. We never had to worry about finding directions in advance and when we were in crowded parking lots, we were able to use the backup camera to help us in driving.  We really LOVED the keyless start!  Neither of us have this in our current vehicles and we found this to be a great feature to have on a new car.

The Mazda CX-5 is kid approved!

Best of all and most importantly the 2015 Mazda CX-5 has safety ratings with a 5-star overall vehicle score.  When we are carrying the most precious cargo that we own (our kids) it is so important to us that the vehicle we are driving is safe.  It also has a frontal crash for driver and passenger 5-star rating and a side-crash – front and rear seat 5-star rating too!

If you are driving in winter weather like we do the 2015 CX-5 offers Front Wheel Drive.  I personally won’t own a car that doesn’t have it.   Some of the other features that we also liked were the heated power mirrors, power moon roof and the push button engine start.  All in all, we would give the 2015 Mazda CX-5 two thumbs up.  This was the perfect vehicle for our vacation, and it would be great for any family.  We really liked the way it drove and handled on the road and the boys loved it too!

Are you looking for a new vehicle that is perfect for your next road trip?
