At what, point do I freeze the Steak Bites? Before cooking and if so do I include all of the ingredients? If after how long can I freeze it for?

    Thanks,
    Pamela

Hello! I wanted to say how great my steak came out! I am doing the 21day fix and looking for bulk ways of cooking meats and I LOVE my crockpot! I made steak using this method today and OMG it is PERFECT! This will be great for “chipotle” bowls and/or just a steak dinner throughout the week! Thanks!!

  3. Sounds tasty, but It looks like you fried the cubes before putting them in the crockpot, otherwise they would turn out greyish I asume. Am I corect? Greetings from Holland!

  4. If you don’t stir, the seasonings just sit on the top layer. How do the steak pieces underneath become seasoned?

  5. We have steak fondue every Christmas Eve with different dipping sauces but this year due to family health issues I’m going to try to make it easier(fondue is fun but just won’t work this year). This looks perfect, I can do the meat bites ahead of time in the crock pot and we can still use our fondue forks to grab the meat pieces and drag them through our favorite dips(-: Thanks!

  6. I just put this in the crockpot. I am not much of a cook and can use all the help I can get. Just a question – it seems like a very small amount of liquid for so much meat. Is it enough for the full 4 pounds? I have read above not to stir and that the meat will be tasty underneath the layers too – even though seasoning on top. I am really trying to make my family a nice meal tonight even though a lack the cooking skills!!!! Thank you!

    1. No need for additional liquids. Trust us 🙂 You can always check earlier to be sure it doesn’t over cook too.

  7. Made these tonight and they turned out great! We used them as the steak in our steak burritos with rice and cheese! Will definitely be making again.

    1. So sorry you felt this way. You can always add as much spice as you want and try again but this is s wildly popular recipe for kids.

Would it be okay to throw in baby carrots? I seen the comment about the diced potatoes and that sounds wonderful too. I just have a bag of baby carrots in the frig that need to be used..thanks in advance!

Do you have the nutritional info? And serving size? I have this going in my crockpot now and I’m tracking my macros for it…..

  9. What level of doneness does this recipe prodice? I prefer medium, rather than more well done. (Sorry if this posted twice, it’s not showing up on my screen)

    1. Very well done. I would suggest decreasing the temp if you like medium. But this is a very tender recipe once finished.

I loved the steak bites but my husband and my daughter said they were dry? I don’t know how they got that when they were sitting in a pool of their own juices and the delicious butter.

    1. Either way you desire 🙂 You can always use some cornstarch to thicken the broth and turn it into a nice gravy.

  11. I’m trying to make Freezer Dump meals. The recipe says to place stuff on top of the meat in the slow cooker.
1.Can you suggest how to put in freezer bag?
2.I have beef bone broth powder, as well as Better Than Boullion. Can you suggest how I might add those? Add water prior to freezing or when I cook it? Thank you!

    1. Just dump your ingredients in the bag. I would add some beef bone powder for extra flavor you can add that when you freeze. Add your water when you cook. Hope this helps.

I used 2# stew meat and added about 5 medium russet potatoes, cubed. The rest of the recipe I followed, with my crockpot on low for about 7 hours. The meat lost all its juices and was very dry, despite all the juice in the crockpot. It looked gray and gross, not like the pictures here. There was also zero flavor going on.

  14. I’m thinking about making this but adding fresh mushrooms and the small whole yellow or gold potatoes. How much broth should I add. Should I add any more of the other ingredients?

This recipe was delicious! The broth was superb. I thicken the broth just slightly and dabbed my cheesy, bacon sliced potatoes in the juices, so good. I used an English steak instead of round steak. Thanks for the recipe, I’ll be making this often.
