Things To Do at Land Between the Lakes

There are so many amazing Things To Do at Land Between the Lakes. We are home from an amazing fall break trip to the area and wanted to share all of the fun things to do with you.

If you are a nature lover or adventure seeker you are in luck. Land Between the Lakes offers so many awesome outdoor activities and fun things to do.

Things To Do at Land Between the Lakes:

Patti’s 1880’s Settlement – This is fun for the whole family. Enjoy mini golf, shopping, dining and much more. Patti’s Restaurant is open daily from 11am-8pm. If you want to dine be sure to make a reservation. The Gift Shop and Bakery are open 11am-8pm daily. Patti’s Outdoor Settlement Shops are open Sunday – Thursday 11am-6pm and Friday and Saturday 11am-8pm. The 19th Hole Mini Golf is open daily 11pm-7pm.

Lake Barkley State Resort Park – Stay at Lake Barkley and enjoy all that the Lake Barkley State Resort Park and Marina have to offer. Fishing, hiking, boating and more! You can rent a boat at the Marina and enjoy all the area as to offer. We suggest staying at Main Manor Channel in this beautiful Lake Barkley Vacation Home.

Kenlake State Resort Park – Features indoor and outdoor tennis, 3D archery range, campground, lodge, cottages and a restaurant located on the western shores of KY Lake.

Antiquing – Visit Cadiz, KY and shop at the local gift shops and antique stores. I am a huge fan of the Cadiz Antique Mall

Kayaking – You can rent a kayak at the Lake Barkley State Resort Park or from Fish Island Resort.

Fishing – Cast a line for bass (largemouth, white and KY), bluegill, channel, catfish and crappie. You can fish from Lake Barkley State Resort Park or any other lake in the surrounding area. Just be sure to obtain a fishing license.

Tennis – Play at Lake Barkley State Resort Park (two lighted tennis courts) or at Kenlake State Resort Park (indoor and outdoor).

Hiking – Enjoy of of the many trails at Lake Barkley State Resort Park or Land Between the Lakes. Lake Barkley has three self guided nature trails covering 9 miles and seven miles open for mountain biking.

Homeplace 1850’s Working Farm – Step back in time on this working farm and living history museum. Experience what life was like for an 1850’s farm family as they go through their daily chores. See heritage breed mules, sheep, pigs, oxen, ducks and chickens. They often have workshops and special events too.

Elk and Bison Prairie – Take a step back in time and enjoy all that this prairie has to offer. Wind your way through 700 acres of scenic prairie on a 3.5 mile paved loop. This is a driving tour and you want to stay in your vehicle. You can see Elk, Bison, Wild Turkey, Deer and more. Tip, go early or later in the day for best views. Take binoculars.  

Woodlands Nature Station – Get up close to rescued animals and native gardens. Explore ponds, gobble with turkeys and howl with coyotes. There are easy trails that take you through multiple habitats for great wildlife viewing. 

The Jefferson Davis Monument State Historic Site – Located in Fairview KY this is a historic monument that you should visit when you are in town. With a civil war museum and bookstore. 

Golden Pond Planetarium – Travel to space from the comfort of a planetarium theater year round. Popular light shows begin Memorial Day and continue through the year. See the stars and enjoy the show. 

Golf – There are over 6 amazing golf courses in the area that you can enjoy. Boots Randolph Golf Course, Mineral Mound, Kentucky Dam Golf Course, Benton Golf and Country Club, Arrowhead Golf Club and Calvert City Golf & Country Club.

Horse Back Riding –  Lake Barkley offers a guided 45 minute scenic tour as well as pony rides for those ages 6 and under. They are open Memorial Day – Labor Day.

Sunrise or Sunset – Be sure to enjoy the sunrise and the sunset. There is nothing better than soaking up this glorious view by the lake.

Boating – Rent a pontoon boat and enjoy all that the lakes have to offer. You can rent from the Lake Barkley Full Service Marina Memorial Day – Labor Day.  They have 112 covered slips and 60 open slips if you have your own boat. They offer rental fishing, pontoon and ski boats, plus skis.

Dining – There are so many great dining options including: Harper House, Triplets BBQ, Burger Bar and Grill, Cadiz Restaurant and the Pig’s Tail Ice Cream Shop.

Trap Range – Lake Barkley offers supervised trapshooting Memorial Day through Labor Day. They have a lighted range and the use fee includes shotgun and clays.

Camping – Camp at Lake Barkley State Resort Park (April – October), Kenlake State Resort Park or in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.

  1. So many great things to do in this place indeed. But if I was here, my favorite thing to do would be to relax while watching the sunset or sunrise.
