How To Make Homemade Laundry Detergent

This Homemade Laundry Detergent is an amazing nontoxic way to clean your clothes!  You will not see a lot of suds from this recipe in your washer, but your clothes will be clean!  This laundry detergent is so simple to make with only 4 ingredients.  I love the antiseptic/antibacterial quality of using essential oils to clean and they smell so good!

Homemade Laundry Detergent:

This recipe is not for HE washers though.  It is for traditional washers.  Working with borax is safe but you need to use precaution.  Be sure to keep it out of the reach of children and pets.  You need to use rubber gloves when you mix it and wash your hands well after you work with it – just as I would any store-bought traditional detergent.

The essential oil will provide an additional disinfectant and give it an awesome aroma.  I like to use a citrus oil, Melaleuca, Lemon essential oil for this recipe. I hope you enjoy making and using this Homemade Laundry Detergent. It is a great way to save money from your household budget.

    1. It is fine if you are safe with it (keep it out of the reach of children and pets). I used gloves when I mix it and wash my hands after I use it – but just as I would any store bought detergent.
