This is my Granny’s Meatloaf recipe. There is nothing better than a recipe that immediately takes you back to your childhood and this is one that does that for me. I like to serve it with mashed potatoes and green beans.
Instead of using ketchup this recipe has a sauce that you make with tomato sauce, brown sugar, mustard and vinegar.
You can use your choice of bread crumbs or cracker crumbs. I make mine with gluten free now that I have Celiac disease but you can use traditional.
The recipe is easy to make with only 6 ingredients in the actual meatloaf and four in the sauce. My son doesn’t like onions so I used onion powder instead. That was a great way to have the flavor without using fresh onion. This is easy to make and best of all it tastes amazing as a leftover. It freezes well too! I hope you enjoy it as much as do.
- 1 loaf pan
- 1 1 /2 pounds ground beef
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 small chopped onion
- 1/2 can tomato sauce
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 TBSP brown sugar
- 2 TBSP vinegar
- Mix the meatloaf together well in a bowl with your hands.
- Place into a lightly greased loaf pan.
- Bake on 350 for 30 minutes and drain fat.
- Mix sauce and pour over meatloaf and cook for 15 more minutes or until done in the center.
I hope you enjoy Granny’s Meatloaf as much as we do! It is a family favorite and one that gives me all the feels.
