Can You Freeze Asparagus? Asparagus can be very inexpensive when it is very plentiful. It is always best to buy large quantities during the peak season and freeze it, we of course call that STOCKPILE TIME!

Can You Freeze Asparagus?

Check out these tips to keep asparagus at its best when freezing.  Crops are harvested from late February to June, with April being the prime month.  This is when you will find the best price however it is available year-round.  I often look for a manager’s special on asparagus and freeze then too.

How To Freeze Asparagus:

  • Wash and blanch for 1 minute, timing from when vegetables enter the water.
  • Plunge into an ice bath, drain, and freeze in a heavy-duty plastic freezer bag or food saver bags.
