Avocado & Banana Face Mask
Avocado & Banana DIY Face Mask made with Everyday Ingredients
It seems like kids are a lot busier these days than when I was growing up. I am glad that my children have the opportunity to be a part of so many activities. Being able to hone their skills and discover new interests keeps our days packed and dinner conversation full. However, keeping up with my kids’ schedules makes it virtually impossible for any me-time.
On the particularly hectic days, I find myself daydreaming about my past trips, particularly my time spent in Hawaii. With its dazzling beaches and luxurious spas, our 50th state has a calming power that many vacation destinations have lost. The Royal Hawaiian, one of Honolulu’s best hotels, offers the Abhasa Tropical Facial that I was blessed to have experienced. This treatment was by far the best souvenir.
Since we can’t always de-stress at the spa, we can bring some paradise right into our own homes with a DIY Avocado and Banana Face Mask, inspired by Abhasa. These natural and inexpensive ingredients can find a way into even the busiest moms schedule once in awhile.
Avocado & Banana Face Mask
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 ripe banana
- 2 t. olive oil
- 1 t. honey
(I also added 1 drop of Melaleuca to this recipe – which is great for skin care and acne)
Using a spoon, scoop the avocado into a blender or food processor. Peel and slice the banana. Add banana and remaining ingredients to the blender or food processor. Combine until smooth.
Before you apply the facial, cleanse your face as you normally would. If you use toner, apply this before the facial. Smooth the avocado and banana mask onto your skin and neck. If the area around your eyes is sensitive, do not apply the mask there. Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes. I like to soak in a hot bath during this time, but you may enjoy reading a book or listening to soft music. Finally, rinse the mask off with warm water.
As soothing as it is moisturizing, I like to use this mask just before I go to bed on Sunday evenings. After I clean up dinner, help the kids with their homework and get them in bed, I am ready to have a few minutes of time to nurture myself. It is a nice way to start the inevitably busy week with a little more clarity

Hi i was just wondering how long this recipe and the scrub recipes keep for i would like to give them as gifts so i would want to put that information on there for them. Thanks!
You could make up a basket with the ingredients and that would be the best way to go. The mashed mixture is best for only 48 hours kept cold in the fridge.
