Air Fryer Pita Chips

Have you invested in an air fryer yet?  If not, now is the time to grab one and start using it for delicious healthy options for your menu!  This easy Air Fryer Pita Chips recipe is sure to become a new favorite healthy snack treat.

Of course, this isn’t gluten-free like I prefer, but if you find gluten-free pita, you could make them that way as well! Fast, crispy, and so easy to customize with different flavors, this is sure to be a favorite in your home.

Air Fryer Pita Chips

I love Mediterranean cuisine and pitas are always in my “bread bin” on the counter or in the refrigerator.  I’ve enjoyed homemade pita, whole wheat pita, pita with pockets, and pita without.  Pita is just a great bread substitute, but it also makes a perfect chip for dipping.  I especially like that they are heavier, so they work well with thicker dips!

What’s the Best Air Fryer?

There is no right or wrong answer, but I highly recommend the Power XL Air Fryer and the Ninja Foodie if you want to make larger portions.  The Cosori Air Fryer is another great brand that is useful, quality, and affordable.

What Can I Use Pita Chips For?

They are a perfect snack by themselves, but I love using them with some of my favorite dips.  I find these to be especially tasty with a thicker or heartier dip since they don’t fall apart as easily.  Below are some of my favorite dips to serve pita chips with.

What Other Ways Can I Season My Chips?

You can use any seasoning blend you want on these.  Plain salt is always a great idea, but I like a little something extra.  A good Greek seasoning, taco seasoning, chili powder, Tajin, or even lemon pepper can all be added.  I’ve experimented with salt and vinegar but never got the ratio just right.  You can even sprinkle with cheese powder if you want to make a “Doritos”.

  • 1 can Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1 jar Sea salt

  • Lay a single layer of pita chips into the basket of the air fryer. Spray with nonstick cooking spray. Season with sea salt and sprinkle with herb seasoning.
  • I typically use a generous serving size of salt and herbs as they sometimes fall off and it's a plain pita chip, so this adds flavor.
  • Cook chips at 350 for 4 minutes. Open the air fryer and use tongs to flip over the chips. Return to the fryer for an additional 4 minutes. Remove and cool. Repeat until all your pita chips are all cooked.
