2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Review

2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Review

Check out our 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Review. We recently had the opportunity to test drive the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ES AWC for a week when we traveled to Mesa, AZ.  We really loved the way the SUV drove and also the spacious trunk.  It was perfect for our luggage and would be great for hauling groceries, kids and soccer gear.  Best of all it is an affordable SUV.  It was recently named to Kelley Blue Book’s “10 Most Affordable SUVs’ List for 2015”.   With a starting MSRP of only $19,595 you can see why it was included in the list!

If you are in the market for a SUV, you are going to LOVE the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.  It was also rated as an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as a “Top Safety Pick” and offers dynamic styling and excellent value in the 5-passenger compact crossover segment.  Shelley and I both fell in love with the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.  We love the price, fuel economy and safety ratings.  It is the trifecta of everything we look for in a vehicle.

2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ES

We found the Outlander Sport to be extremely powerful.  It was easy to drive and best of all had a ton of great storage room in the trunk.  We really loved the built-in navigation system which helped us while traveling on vacation.  New to the 2015 Outlander Sport model lineup are the 2.4 SE and 2.4 GT trim levels that are powered by a larger displacement 2.4-liter MIVEC 4-cylinder engine that produces 20 more horsepower (168 bhp) over the standard 2.0-liter engine’s output.  We noticed that when driving the Outlander that it really handled well and that the 4-cylinder engine provided the horsepower to increase speed quickly without any hesitation.    It was great for highway and city travel.

Best of all the 2WD fuel economy ratings are 23 mpg city/28 mpg highway/25 mpg combined. The 4WD fuel economy rating is 23 mpg city/26 mpg highway/24 mpg combined. This is something to consider when purchasing an SUV because generally speaking you don’t see such great fuel economy when it comes to SUV’s.  With the cost of fuel, it is really important to consider fuel economy.

2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Review

In addition to the more powerful engine, the 2.4 ES includes a distinctive looking black center bumper with the package, while the 2.4 GT adds a power driver’s seat, outside mirrors with LED turn indicators, aluminum pedals, leather-wrapped parking brake handle, black roof rails.  We like that you can purchase this vehicle on a budget, or you can get all the bells and whistles depending on what you budget will allow.

When it comes to purchasing a new vehicle the top considerations that we consider include:

  1. Safety
  2. Cost
  3. Fuel Efficiency

With its low price, outstanding fuel economy, distinctive styling, excellent safety rating and Mitsubishi Motors’ outstanding comprehensive warranty, the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is one of the stand-out vehicle values in the small SUV/crossover segment.

Platform and Drivetrain – Sublime Engineering
A poised, comfortable ride and excellent maneuverability are always assured, thanks to the 2015 Outlander Sport’s well-engineered suspension system that consists of MacPherson struts with stabilizer bar up front and a multi-link set-up with stabilizer bar at the rear of the vehicle.

Additional design improvements for the 2015 model year Outlander Sport include thicker front door glass and new sound insulation for the rear quarter panel section of the vehicle, leading to a reduction in the level of noise, vibration and/or harshness (NVH) experienced by the vehicle’s occupants. We noticed that the road noise was almost non-existent!

Every 2015 Outlander Sport model comes equipped with a plethora of important safety features and technologies: Active Stability Control (ASC) with Hill Start Assist (HSA); Traction Control Logic (TCL); a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS); anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist; and a seven (7) air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) with front air bags with passenger weight and driver’s seat position sensors, front seat-mounted side-impact air bags, and curtain side air bags with roll-over sensors.  If you are carrying precious cargo, then this is going to help put your mind at ease.

Furthermore, an available rear-view camera system is also offered and provides additional piece-of-mind and awareness of one’s surroundings when backing up the vehicle.  Our vehicle had this feature and we loved it!  It made backing up a breeze!  Every 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport comes with a generous warranty that includes a 10-year/100,000-mile power train limited warranty, a 7-year/100,000-mile anti-corrosion/perforation limited warranty, a completely transferable 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty, and a 5-year/unlimited miles roadside assistance program.  We give this vehicle two thumbs up for sure!

  6. Ideally I’d love to have a SUV for our family of 4 but sometimes I just don’t find cars purposeful here in NY to justify the cost. I am always a fan of lots of trunk space for traveling and those trips to target. With both of my boys having severe allergies the pollen filter feature is really nice to have.

  7. I just bought a Mitsubishi Lancer 2015 and the NAV system on all the vehicles, Outlander included, has a major glitch in the NAV system…..and the alighnment doesn’t stay alighned…..For many cities it will not let you enter the street names……
