Used the slow cook option on my instant pot for these, and will definitely make again, but with a little less honey next time cuz were a bit too sweet for me.

      1. 400 degree for how long? This looks delish and I’d love to try it in the oven! Also, should I tent it with aluminum foil or leave it as it is in the pan?

Made this in Nairobi this weekend. Everyone loved it, and we’re picky eaters! I modified your recipe slightly: no honey (I don’t like honey) and I salted and peppered the pork.
This pork was soooooooo tender and juicy! Yummmmmmm
Served with fresh french bread baguettes.
    Thanks for the great idea!

    1. Did you use something in place of the honey ornjust without honey? We cant use it here due to allergies

  2. I was excited to try this and halved the recipe, cooking for 3 hours on low. The pork came out very dry. Any suggestions?

    1. I used two small apples an a small crock pot. Also only two pork chops.I added some brown sugar in with it to sweeten it up a little. In 4 hours I will check see how it is going. Now what veg do I want with it that is my problem.

  3. I made this tonight, and the only thing I did different was salt and peppering the pork chops and giving them a good sear in the frying pan prior to dropping them in the slow cooker. What a great and easy recipe! I will be sharing this with friends and family! Thank you!!!

  4. It seems that there is not much liquid. Can something be added so that It does not dry out and can it be turned off and re-heated.,

I made this tonight and it was delicious. I do have a question about the recipe above – is 2 TBSP of cinnamon correct?? I only used 2 tsp. because it seemed like way too much. I’m glad I did because I thought that even 2 tsp. was a bit heavy. Just curious.

  6. I’m making this now, I’m so excited! I did salt and pepper pork, I also used a smal ribeye pork roast and 3 bone in chops. Will bake some sweet potatoes to go with this and homemade bread.
    I can’t wait! Thanks

    1. If I make this again, I will use a different apple. The granny made this dish tart, even with the honey. It seemed very bland to me. May not cook this again.

  7. I am going to try this. I will need to peel the apples because of my wife’s allergies, also means no cinnamon. How about some pineapple and ginger?

  8. Have this in my crockpot right now and the house smells amazing ? Ive never had the whole pork and apples dishes but I’m looking forward to it! I did salt and peppered the chops. Let’s see how my family rates it!

What did I do wrong? I followed the directions as stated above and the pork chops were dry with no flavor. Maybe I didn’t have enough pork in for it to cook for 8 hours on low. I see everyone else has given this recipe rave reviews.

  10. This turned out great. I did put salt and pepper on the chops, but that was the only change I made. Next time I will add more apples.
    Thanks for a nice recipe.

    1. We liked rice, mashed potatoes or wide noodles plus a veggie (asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts)

  11. I have a version of this in my crockpot now. I used brown sugar instead of honey added salt and pepper on the pork and added a thinly sliced red onion with the apples. As for liquid I used apple cider with a splash of apple cider vinegar and a squirt of Dijon mustard. I think it should add some yummy flavors. Thanks for the idea.

I made this and I am going to have to side with Christy’s comment from 2016. I thought it had some flavor but not a lot. I wonder if I cooked it too long as the apples turned to mush. My husband and son were not overly impressed. If I make it again I will try some apple juice/cider added to it.

  13. OMG! I just pinned and copied this recipe! I always see pork and apple recipes and somehow they just never quite appeal to me but wow oh wow this just spoke to me and I can’t wait to make these. My husband will love also and we get sick of the same ole way of fixing them so unless you find the huge ones like a steak to grill pork chop recipes can get bland and or boring. Love your blog and recipes. Thanks for the great ideas and help to eating healthy.

I love this recipe! Is there a reason why I couldn’t dip the apples in Fruit Fresh (Ascorbic acid) to store them until cooking and keep them from browning? Also could Fruit Fresh be used to protect potatoes from browning in the freezer? I am good at canning but this is new to me!

I’ve made this twice now. Tempted to add extra seasoning and liquids to it each time, but trust me… NONE NEEDED. It comes out fantastic as is. The best part? No measuring is really required. Just eyeball it and let it cook.

  16. I hope you are still answering questions. Lol I didn’t understand the freezer instructions. Could you clarify for me please.

  17. I have this in my crockpot right now. I’m using a 7QT and 7 pieces of pork chops. As a Jamaican though, we like spiced-up food, so I included red and yellow onions, thyme, black pepper, a dash of my jerk seasoning (for more heat), and a special sweet and hot sauce that I brought here from Jamaica. I also added a little water and 2 Tbsp. coconut oil. Looking forward to this awesomeness.

How many apples did you actually use for the photos? 1 large apples didn’t come near to covering a whole layer. (Recipe calls for 1 apple to layer bottom and one to layer top.) My pork came out very dry by following the written recipe and I’m wondering if it was a lack of apples?

Very good! Quick and easy prep, I cut the pork amount I half; and only cooked them for 5 hrs; very good!

  20. Making this now. Added about 1/2 c apple cider to the bottom, also, to add some liquid. Also I didn’t start cooking until I had about 3 hours until dinner needs to be done, so cooking on high for 3 hours, instead (adding the apple cider will keep them moist!) Looking forward to see what my husband thinks! (: I’ll be serving with bread and vegetables, probably roasted carrots & corn.

7 to 8 hours is way too long. This was so burnt and dry by the time I got home, almost inedible. However I’m going to try again but this time maybe add some more moisture and shorter cooking time.
