National Pi Day (3.14)
In celebration of National Pi Day (3.14) here are some of our favorite pie recipes! Are you celebrating today with pie? I will use any excuse to celebrate.
What is it?
Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “ π ”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. Pi Day is an annual opportunity for math enthusiasts to recite the infinite digits of Pi, talk to their friends about math, and eat pie.
When I taught high school our math department always celebrated, and kids loved this tradition. It was fun to see their reaction and they played the Pi Day Song. It was an all-day long celebration at our school. It holds great memories for me!
So, tell me what is your favorite pie? Mine is apple with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
