Cinnamon Ornaments
Cinnamon Ornaments:
Ingredients:
3/4 – 1 cup apple sauce (depends on if chunky or not – start with 3/4 and stir in more if needed)
1 cup cup ground cinnamon
Directions:
Mix together applesauce and cinnamon, knead and then roll out with a rolling pin (it will form a dough). You can sprinkle with cinnamon when rolling out if too moist. Then cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Make a hole in the top of the ornament with a straw. Let ornaments dry. Add a ribbon after it dries and use it as an ornament or present tag. We like to keep them from year to year in a box layered between tissue paper.
You can place plastic wrap between the dough while forming a dough ball. This makes for less mess! Bake the ornaments on 200 degrees for 2 1/2 hours to harden the dough. This project also makes your house smell amazing! I love to make these before we have company. A built in air freshener that the kids have fun making! There is nothing not to love about this frugal Christmas project.
Give these Cinnamon Ornaments a try. You will be glad you did.

I made these during the fall to add to my tree and they are super simple and super smelly. They are adorable.
So it’s only two ingredients? Nothing else needed> How cool!
So easy!
How do you roll out just applesauce and cinnamon? I keep rereading to see if I’m missing something.
You just knead it and then roll it out with a rolling pin.
i didn’t get it either until i read the directions for like the 10th time. lol if you’re using 1 full cup of cinnamon and equal part (1 cup) of applesauce…. i’m going to assume that it forms some sort of “dough” like consistancy.
i agree that these directions were pretty vague if you’ve never tried to make them before. lol regardless, i think i will try it. love the smell of cinnamon and apples. 🙂
I have updated the directions with more detail for you 🙂 They smell great!
Just found a recipe for exact same thing this morning to try with my kiddos…. only difference the other one says use 2 Tablespoons of tacky glue, nutmeg and cloves. Think this one sounds alot easier. Thanks for posting! =)
You can use glue but I prefer it to be edible – just in case 🙂
Oh thank you! My daughter brought one of the home from school. When I asked for the “recipe”, I got shrugging shoulders. 😉
It’s amazing how great these smell. Can’t wait to make some. 🙂
I used a dehydrator for these. Also store in baggies for next year.
I did these for the first time last year….love them! Easy, kids could do them too, and they smell sooo good. thx
