Paper Plate Jack-o-Lantern:

Supplies:

  • Orange Paper Plates (or while plates paint that you color orange)
  • black yarn
  • black construction paper
  • scissors
  • tape
  • glue

Directions:

This can be created with an orange paper plate or you/or the children can paint or color a white paper plate orange. I would suggest using Tempera Paint versus a marker or crayon. Next, cut the middle out of the plate and save for another project. (you never know when you can use it).

Cut out 4 eyes, 2 nose’s and 2 mouth’s of black construction paper. Add a piece of yarn the in the middle so that you can attach to the plate of each and glue.

You want to do 2 sets as they turn you don’t want see a back-side. Next, tape each to the backside of the plate (see picture).

Punch a hole in the center top of the plate and add a piece of black yarn to hang (or you could use green for the stem).

That is it!  It is really so simple. This Paper Plate Jack-o-Lantern is a simple Halloween craft that the whole family will enjoy making.  Once you make a bunch they could easily be used throughout your home for decorations.  I like that they aren’t scary so they don’t frighten young children.  Perfect to make with young children and this project is suited for ages 5+.  Be sure to give this craft a try and let us know how you enjoyed making it.   It is fun to make a variety of shapes for the nose and mouth too!
