Crockpot Ranch Chicken

Crockpot Ranch Chicken is going to be quickly added to our monthly menu plan because it is so delicious, and you only need 3 ingredients to make this easy chicken dinner recipe.  Yes, I said that correctly only 3 ingredients needed! Simply place your chicken tenders or breasts in the crock pot and add cream of chicken soup and ranch packet mixed with some water!  It’s that simple! Best of all no one will realize how easy it is to make because it tastes so good.

Crockpot Ranch Chicken

My husband and boys cannot wait until I make this again because it was that tasty! Best of all you can use any amount of chicken that you need to feed your family size – you can easily double or triple this recipe!  It is also great with pork chops too!! If you are going to double or triple this recipe, just be sure that your slow cooker has enough room in it to cook properly.  I used a 4 qt sized slow cooker for this recipe.

Crockpot Ranch Chicken

You can also make this DIY Ranch Seasoning (Dairy Free) and DIY Cream of Chicken Soup if you want! When using the DIY Ranch Seasoning you use only 2 TBSP of the mix.  By making your own you are able to control what ingredients you use while cooking.  If you are going to purchase your Ranch Seasoning, I suggest picking it up at a Warehouse Store like Sam’s Club or COSTCO. It is great way to save money versus picking up the individual packets.

Crockpot Ranch Chicken

I love to serve Crockpot Ranch Chicken with Old Fashioned Mashed Potatoes and Paula Deen’s Corn Casserole. You can also serve with green beans and a bed of egg noodles. Whatever you family enjoys as an easy side will make this a meal that the whole family will love.

Crockpot Ranch Chicken is easiest meal you will ever make! A family favorite.

  1. Love these simple, easy, and few ingredient recipes…Plus crockpot…can’t go wrong. Awesome can’t wait to try it out.

      1. Could I throw in some potatoes and/or carrots to cook with it? (have you ever? If so, I’m thinking adding an extra Cup, of chicken broth?)

    1. Can you also make this in a ninja foodi intacooker? How long would you suggest and what temp? Thank you sounds amazing!

    Hi,
This recipe sounds delicious! But is there a way to cook this in the high setting? If so how long do I cook for? Thanks!
    Gina

      1. I only had frozen pre-grilled chicken strips in the freezer, so I combined the soup, dry seasoning an water then poured it over the chicken in a skillet and heated on medium for about 6-8 minutes. Made some sides and dinner was served! It was yummy! Thanks for the recipe the gravy is delicious!

    1. It is not ranch from a bottle – it is ranch seasoning (1 Ranch Seasoning Dry Mix Packet). Hope this helps. I have gone through today and responded to all the comments to help

      1. I’m confused. Do you or don’t you use a ranch packet? The pictures and instructions say and show a ranch packet yet don’t say anything about turning it to dressing, but you said “If you use a packet you have to turn it into the dressing.”

    1. We didn’t shred it but you could and serve it with rice or mashed potatoes. We served ours with corn pudding.

  3. As I made your dry ranch dressing mix, do I add the 1 cup mayo and 1 cup buttermilk (to the dry mix) to the already 1 can of cream of chicken soup + the one can of water/milk? I’m sure I’m making this more complicated then necessary!

  4. How long can i cook this in the oven if i don’t want to use a slow cooker? Im guessing about an hour and a half or so?

  5. How do I make my gravy a little more thick? I used one can of water and I’ve also done it with milk before but it always comes out too thin:/

I tried this today, and it was pretty good. Even my husband loved it. It was super simple and very good. I added a little bit of onion to it and it was very good. It was nice to just throw it in the crockpot and let it cook. We served it with a broccoli cheddar rice to give it some different flavor. I would definitely do this recipe again.

    1. Sounds great to me! However that will be a lot of soup so you may want to double your meet and ranch in the future.

    1. It is not ranch from a bottle – it is ranch seasoning (1 Ranch Seasoning Dry Mix Packet). Hope this helps.

  7. I read all the comments here, but still didn’t quite get if you can use a bottle of ranch dressing instead of the packet? I want to cook it in the crockpot. Please let me know as I would love to make this today. Thanks 🙂

    1. It is not ranch from a bottle – it is ranch seasoning (1 Ranch Seasoning Dry Mix Packet). Hope this helps.

    2. No you can not use ranch from the bottle. You do t mix the ranch dressing mix from the packet into ranch dressing before you use it. You just dump the dry ranch dressing mix into the crockpot.

    3. 5 stars
No, it is not recommended using ranch from a bottle. You use 1 envelope of dry ranch dressing packet, and mix the dry packet with the can of soup!

  8. Just mixed up the crock pot ranch chicken in my crock pot to throw on tomorrow morning before I leave for work. I did add carrots and I’m hoping that will be yummy. I’ve never tried this recipe before so we are looking forward to it.

  9. I’m confused. In the comments, one of the first few asks if you use dressing from the bottle and it states that you have to use the packet but prepare the dressing first. Then later you say no, don’t use the bottle, you must use the packet. My question is, do you prepare the packet dressing and then put in or do you just add the packet of dressing?

    1. It is not ranch from a bottle – it is ranch seasoning (1 Ranch Seasoning Dry Mix Packet). Hope this helps. I addressed all the comments this morning too to clear up confusion. Thanks!

      1. Bless your heart for replying to the SAME questions about the Ranch. Multiple times. Don’t people read the comments first before asking a question? I’m trying this tomorrow!

    2. No you don’t make the packet into dressing first. You just mix the dry packet in with the cream of chicken or cream of mushroom and water. Then pour that mixture over the chicken. You can not use the bottled ranch. It’s not the same thing.

      1. Hi! I’m actually making this right now and hope that you see this in the next 4 to 6 hours. LOL is there a way to put rice in to cook with it and if so when would I put that in and do I need to add any extra liquid?

  10. I think the confusion is coming in that people think you are supposed to mix the dry ingredients to make a dressing. You just open the dry packet and mix it with the soup and water…pour over the chicken.

  11. Ok — I made your version of the homemade Ranch Seasoning. Now, do I use the entire contents in this recipe or just some of it?? Thanks for the clarification!

  12. If you use the ck breast instead of tenderloins. Do you suggest cutting it up to make tenderloins or is it okay to leave it as a breast? Thank you 🙂

  13. Making this right now… well, kind of. We’re out of Ranch seasoning, so I’m using an Italian seasoning mix with the cream of mushroom… and since I’m using frozen chicken that tends to put off a lot of liquids, I opted out of adding the extra can of liquids. Hopefully it all turns out ok… Lol.

  14. I’m curious how it turns out when finished, is it super runny or kind of thicker gravy? Just wondering how much liquid is left when it’s all done cooking.

    1. It is thin but enough for you to add some cornstarch to it to make a nice gravy 🙂

  15. I read comments to find out if people like the dish and sometimes they add what they changed and liked a bit better to their taste. What a ton of confusion here! It really is simple ingredients and simple directions. I am going to prepare it anyway. I think the problem is all the extra information that really doesn’t relate to the recipe. Dump these comments and the extra information and try again. It’s way too negative for this to be a good go to recipe. By the way, I am using pork tenderloins and hope for a moist tasty meal.

    1. This recipe is awesome as prepared by the actual recipe. We have also prepared it with pork and it is amazing too!

Amazing recipe! It’s cooking up right now. I used coconut milk instead of regular milk or water. We will see what happens. I placed my chicken breasts on a bed of carrots and peas. I also used thawed chicken breasts. I know sometimes that using frozen adds extra water. Thank you so much for sharing!

Cooking this tonight in crock pot now if to much liquid I will add pasta don’t have corn starch served with thin slice potatoes with ranch seasoning in a muffin pan got here as well and biscuits thank you

  17. If I need to cook this for 8-9 hours because of being at work, will this still turn out? I see the recipe calls for 4-6 hours on low. Thank you.

    1. I am afraid it will shred your chicken too much. I would suggest using frozen chicken to extend the cooking time.

  18. This looks and sounds amazing. I have the 15oz container of the ranch seasoning mix (like pictured) but nowhere do I see how much to use….just 1 packet. How many tsp or TBsp do I use. Thanks

  19. Thank-you for the great recipe! I am always hesitant to make something new, but this turned out really good. Love this website…easy to follow recipes with easy to find ingredients.

I made this the other day for my family. I put cubed/peeled potatoes in the bottom of my Crock-Pot with the chicken on top. Then used the sauce and drippings from the chicken to make mashed potatoes. I also added a quarter cup of flour to coat the chicken.
Potatoes turned out amazing! Chicken was a little dry for my taste. But my toddler liked dipping it in ranch dressing.
Next time I make it I will try the chicken on the bottom with potatoes on top.

    1. The soup has 18g Carbs so I am going to say no. However you could use butter/chicken broth and some heavy cream to replace.

I made this recipe today. We really liked it and will make again. I shredded the chicken and it turned out well. Next time I will add sauteed celery & onion, frozen peas and carrots near the end and keep on warm until I serve. It came out much like a deconstructed chicken pot pie, or a chicken-a-la king gravy/sauce. If I was eating carbs, I totally would have served over egg noodles or biscuits.

Love this recipe!! First tried it on a family vacation and there was literally none left over!! Even our young (4,6,7yrs olds) asked for 2nds and that’s rare lol. We double the recipe and even add potatoes to it now.

  23. I’m doubling the recipe but only have 1 can of cream of chicken soup. Can I use that & one can of cream of celery soup instead?

When using frozen chicken does it need to be on a high setting at first to make sure the food is cooked thoroughly?

I love this recipe. It’s so easy to make. I wonder how long this would take in an Instant Pot. Any ideas?

  25. Just threw this in the crockpot..mixed the soup, ranch packet and water in and it looks very watery..added more soup but still just seems watery…will this change as it cooks?

  26. I noticed the recipe says 2 lbs of chicken breasts which should be about 8 breasts, but you told someone to double the recipe if she uses 6. So what was the appropriate amount of chicken for this recipe. I only ask because I was only going to use 4 chicken breasts ( 1 Lb) and I didn’t want to overpower the recipe so was going to use 1/2 the ranch and soup mix, but then came across that comment. I am about to make it now and want to use appropriate ingredients.

    1. I was looking forward to this and would have been my first time trying it. Before it finished I noticed that the milk had curdled. So disappointed. What I did different was I put it on high heat and your directions said one can of water or milk. I used half milk half water. I’m such a rookie in the kitchen. Thoughts? Was it the high heat?

We make this at least once monthly, it is so wonderfully simple and delicious. Makes for great packed lunches. I use 3-4 breasts since there’s only two of us and throw in roughly chopped red potatoes and a bag of baby carrots. We love the spicy ranch packet in this recipe. I sprinkle a little on both sides of the chicken and then the rest goes into the mixture! So yummy, I’m super glad we found this recipe!

    1. Absolutely! Any cream of soup works! I have used chicken and mushroom. Broccoli sounds yummy too!

  28. 5 stars
Absolutely love this recipe – I alternated the cream of chicken/mushroom soup the 2nd time I made it and used cream of Bacon condensed soup – it was the best chicken bacon ranch I’ve ever had!!

  29. I made this with chicken thighs and put them under the broiler for a few minutes after cooking, because I like it crispy! I cooked it for 41/2 hours on low. I added a bit of corn starch to thicken the sauce and more fresh black pepper! I also pan fried some green beans in coconut oil and cloves of garlic and a salad with crusty bread. Perfect meal and great leftovers! Thank you!

This was so good and so easy to make ..my husband even ask me to make it again soon and he’s picky ..

  31. I have a lot to feed so I had to double everything. If I doubled, can I cook on high for two hours and then low for two hours?

    1. Yes for sure. You just need to make sure your slow cooker is large enough to double. The time wouldn’t necessarily need to increase if you are using the correct size slow cooker.

  32. I only had 1.3 lb. Of breast so I added some frozen mixed vegetables, thawed, to accommodate. Cooking now, looking forward to dinner time. Will serve with rice or noodles.

Ps. I couldn’t believe some of the dumb questions! 3 ingredients LOL

  33. This sounds so good. I would have to change the soup so that My son would try it. But I know that he will and I will too. Thanks for sharing this with us.

  34. 5 stars
This sounds great. I’ve only ever had ranch salad never ranch chicken. I love that it’s something different and it sounds tasty and easy enough to make which is always a bonus.
