Can you freeze summer squash? Yes, you can!  It is a water-based plant so when it is frozen and then thawed it become “mushy” and loses its original form.  By using the below method, it is the best way to freeze squash.

Wash and cut into 1/2″ slices and boil for 3 minutes, timing from when vegetables enter the water.

Plunge into an ice bath, drain, and freeze in a heavy-duty plastic freezer bag or food saver bags. It is perfect for soups and stews.  I even like to grill or steam it.

Be sure to give this a try. It is perfect for slow cooker methods of cooking.
