Big Bone Lick State Park is in Union Kentucky and located close to Cincinnati, Ohio for those wanting to check it out. It is a great road trip destination.
It is the perfect destination to take the kids for some adventure, a picnic lunch and family fun. Big Bone Lick State Historic Site is located at 3380 Beaver Road Union, KY 41091.
Big Bone has lots to offer from a public campground, museum and Bison to see. The campground has 62 sites with utility hook-ups, grills, bathrooms with showers and a swimming pool. There is a grocery store and pets are allowed too. The campground is closed from November 1 to March 31. For more information call 859-384-3495.
My son enjoyed exploring the museum and reading the facts. It is very educational, but fun for kids at the same time. If you or your family love the Ice Age period then this is a must do museum for you! Be sure to head to the trails for some hiking fun. The kids love pointing things out. Of course our absolute favorite is seeing the bison. The bison usually comes right up to the fence and viewing area.
The park is open year around. However the museum hours are 8:30 am to 4 pm daily during April 1 – October 31. From November 1 to March 31 it is open Monday thru Friday 9 am to 3 Pm. I highly suggest visiting if you are close in the area.
