How to grease and flour a baking pan? Often times recipes called for a greased and floured pan. As you know I used to teach foods class, so I taught this kitchen tip to all of my students. This tip is important when baking a cake or anything in a loaf pan.

How to grease and flour a baking pan:

To grease the pan, you can use either a paper towel or a piece of wax paper and dip into the grease (shortening, lard or cooking oil). Cover the entire pan with a thin layer of grease.

Next take 2 TBSP of flour and place into the pan. Over your kitchen sink tip, the pan from side to side and front to back until you have coated all of the sides of the pan.

Empty any excess flour into the garbage or sink.

Why?  To prevent your baked good from sticking to the pan.  I hope this kitchen tip helps you the next time you are baking!
