Is Mickey’s Christmas Party worth it?
Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party worth it? In one word. YES! It is hands down one of the best ways to kick off the holiday season in my opinion. If you have never been, I suggest adding it to your travel bucket list today. It is a great way to get you into the Christmas spirit. The lights, decorations and the music are amazing, but they pale in comparison to the fireworks display and the parade and that is saying a lot because they are out of this world!
Is Mickey’s Christmas Party worth it?
This is hands down the best Christmas party I have ever been to in my life. At first when you look at the cost you might think it is expensive, but I personally think it is a great value instead. If you know you are going to attend I suggest buying your ticket as soon as they release them as the price increases closer to the date. Your ticket allows you to enter the park three hours prior to the party starting. We were able to schedule two fast passes using the My Disney Experience app prior to the party. That is a total of 8 hours in the park with the party ticket.
The official party starts at 7:00 pm and ends at Midnight. We entered Magic Kingdom at 4:00 pm and went straight to our first fast pass (Space Mountain). Following that we did a little shopping, took a bathroom break and Headed to our 2nd fast pass attraction which was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Then we paused for a dole whip. I mean, did you really go to Magic Kingdom if you don’t eat a dole whip?!? I think not…
At the party you will be able to enjoy dozens of Magic Kingdom attractions open in each land. The wait times were shorter than normal which made it enjoyable. Five favorite attractions took on a holiday theme just for the party! They were AWESOME!
Was it crowded? Yes, at first it felt that way but as the night progressed it felt less and less crowded. It would say that people with small children didn’t last until the end. We had no problems riding attractions or watching the fireworks or parade. It was fun to watch what people were wearing too. I would say DECK yourself out in holiday attire. The more the merrier. Many people were wearing Christmas PJ’s, matching outfits and colorful lights! Anything goes and it was loads of fun to see all the outfits.
There was also lots of opportunities to enjoy time with your favorite characters during the party. They were all decked out in their best holiday attire too! You can wait in line to visit and interact with them. We didn’t take the time because we wanted to maximize our ride time but there were so many beloved Disney Characters available throughout Magic Kingdom spreading holiday cheer. The waiting time wasn’t bad for most of them.
After our dole whip break we walked right on Pirates of the Caribbean with little wait. Right at 6:00 pm when they closed the park to non-party goers, we got in line (about a 20-minute wait) for the “Jingle” Cruise. You are reading that right. Not the Jungle Cruise but the specially themed attraction instead. It was themed with Christmas lights and decorations and was loads of fun.
There were several holiday shows available to see including: Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration and Frozen Holiday Wish. My advice is to skip the shows if you want to maximize visiting attractions unless you are more into the shows than rides. We stopped at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café to enjoy a quick bite to eat and dance at Club Tinsel which was a mega-fun dance party.
Afterwards we rode the Tomorrow Land Speedway and Space Mountain which were also decorated for the Christmas. Space Mountain was our favorite. Both attractions were decorated for Christmas with red and green lights and Christmas Music playing during the rides! We absolutely loved it! The Tea Cups and Monsters Laugh Floor were the other two holiday attractions.
Finally we hopped on my favorite attraction, the people mover. This was perfect timing because as we got off Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks show started, and it was EPIC! I stood with my mouth open and in awe of the display. Absolutely the best fireworks display that I have ever seen at Walt Disney World (or anywhere).
The sky was bright and beautiful as it was filled with festive colors and lights to the tunes of Christmas carols of course. You can see the fireworks display from many areas throughout Magic Kingdom park including Liberty Square, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. We chose to view from the Tomorrowland side and walked up as close as we could. Our view was without waiting for a spot and as you can see it was breathtaking.
Truly just experiencing the fireworks display and seeing the decorations in Magic Kingdom was enough for me. Cinderella’s castle did not disappoint. I have never seen the castle look more beautiful then it did at the party.
Christmas music filled the air, we walked around singing along and taking it all in. The Disney Characters were everywhere dressed in their holiday festive best. It truly was a Magical experience for us all.
The cherry on top for me was the Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade. I truly loved watching every single minute of it. All our favorite Disney characters and princesses were in the parade and of course no Christmas parade is complete without Santa.
The most mesmerizing part of me was walking down Main Street and watching it snow! It was so awesome and I couldn’t believe how magical it was! Snow in Florida in December!?! Disney thinks of every little detail.
Oh, and the sweets! There were plenty and that is also included with your admission. They had a variety of cookies and seasoning beverages (Egg Nog, Hot Chocolate, Apple Cider and Fanta). They even had gluten-free and healthy options available too! Plus they offered holiday-themed, event-exclusive treats available for purchase throughout the night too.
Would I do it all over again? In a heartbeat! Without a doubt this was the best way to kick off the Christmas season and I loved every single minute! I can’t wait to go back to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party again!
