I wanted to share some tips for how to prepare for high school senior year. I cannot believe that my son is a senior in high school. I blinked and here we are.
How to prepare for high school senior year:
They say that the days are long, but the years are so, and they are RIGHT. It feels like just yesterday my son came home and here he is starting his high school senior year.
I suggest that you start by keeping a good calendar. There are going to be so many activities and events that your head will spend. Teach your senior to keep their activities on a calendar (we use our phones) and it will keep everyone organized.
Make a list of things you need to budget for this school year.
- Senior Pictures
- Senior Trip
- Graduation Invitations
- Graduation Cap/Gown
- College Visits
- Test Prep (ACT/SAT)
- Senior Prom
- Graduation Party
- Yearbook
- Class Ring
- Senior Dare Night
- Senior Sunrise/Sunset
Be flexible with your schedule. There will be senior nights if you child plays sports, senior parent meetings, award nights and more. Enjoy every minute because it goes by so quickly.
When it comes to planning your senior’s graduation party you can choose to DIY party or have it catered.

We also chose to invest in a camera for my son. He paid for the majority of the camera and then we chipped in for a portion. This is great for him to capture the memories that he experiences during his senior year. He is already enjoying using it this summer. I plan to invest in a photo printer for him too.
