How to make homemade laundry detergent
I am excited to share with you how to make homemade laundry detergent. I am in love with nontoxic laundry detergent that you can make at home! I hope you love this recipe too! It is not for an HE Washer so be sure to use it in a traditional washer. If you chose to try it in an HE (I did) I used 1 TBSP and it worked well for me. I purchased my supplies at Kroger (except the essential oils). You do not need a therapeutic grade essential oil for this recipe, so any that you pick up at your local pharmacy or drug store will do.
How to make homemade laundry detergent:
Our reader Cecilia shared this recipe and money saving tip with us. The total cost per load is around 2 cents! One thing that I would suggest is testing this detergent by doing 1 load of laundry. Often times ingredients will be sensitive to a member (or members) of your family so before you make a bulk amount of this detergent be sure that you wash one load and see if anyone has a reaction. My son is very sensitive to laundry detergents so that is why I mention it. Also, be sure that you keep your detergent ingredients and once prepared in an airtight container away from children and pets.
It is simple to prepare. Just combine all of your ingredients together in a 5-gallon bucket for mixing. Once prepared you can transfer to more usable sizes of containers. I would suggest using a funnel to transfer it to smaller sizes bottles or jugs. You can also snap a lid onto the bucket and refill from there. It is a great way to stretch your household budget. Making your own homemade laundry detergent is a great way to save money from your family’s overall budget. If you have made your own laundry detergent or have a money saving tip, we would love to hear about it.

Woohoo!!!! You use jabon Zote 🙂 I dig it because that stuff can take out stains too.
the recipe states washing soda, NOT BAKING SODA.. so why is baking soda in the pic and what is in the Arm & Hammer box? thanks
The Arm & Hammer box is Washing Powder not baking soda which is what the recipe actually states – read again.
When you look at box’s open both eyes and read.
It’s arm & hammer brand washing soda in the pic look twice.
Where do you get all these ingredients.
Kroger – most grocery stores carry them.
I am for sure going to try this! I go thru a lot of laundry detergent.
This is a great homemade laundry detergent recipe.
