How To Make a Gingerbread House
One of our favorite traditions is our Gingerbread House. It is something we all get involved in. You may want to check out my post on how to create meaningful Christmas traditions.
We make our gingerbread house from scratch and use a gingerbread mold, then together as a family we come up with a design and decorate it. Here is the final product for 2012! We use candy that we purchased the year before after the season or even leftover Halloween Candy because we don’t actually eat at our house. This year we used shredded wheat cereal for the thatched roof and upside down ice cream cones for the trees.
Years ago I purchased gingerbread house molds to use in my classroom and now we are using them each year for our family This is a very frugal project and a family tradition and we all enjoy! One of my favorite icing recipes is this one – Homemade Whipped Cream Cheese Icing.
