Friendship Tea Recipe
There is no better gift than Friendship Tea. My Mom shared this recipe with me years ago and I have given it as a gift since then. I love the way that Friendship Tea tastes too. Of course anything with Tang in it reminds me of my Aunt Ida. You can make up a large batch and prepare it for gift giving. It makes a fabulous Christmas Gift packaged in a Mason Jar with a ribbon attached like above. Regardless if you choose to make it for yourself or for a gift it will be a beverage that everyone will enjoy.
Everyone has a different way of packaging this spiced tea mix. I liked the way these were packaged in “re-cycled” containers covered with contact paper and 3-D Christmas design teapot stickers attached to the front. My Mom received this as a gift. The perfect sized container would be a cocoa container or you can purchase tins at the dollar store.
If you are looking for a homemade gift that doesn’t cost a lot but that your friends will truly enjoy consider making a batch or ten of this Friendship Tea to give. Trust me everyone who receives it will know it came from the heart.

Thank you for the posting. I just made for office Christmas gifts as a change to the usual beer bread in the jar gift. I used 1 tablespoon less of both the tang and lemonade and added 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. I tested making myself a cup and it was super yummy. I put in divided into “ball” brand jars with red lids and a green ribbon & tag and they are so pretty. Also, it was very economical when divided up and you figure price per gift/jar.
Where do you get the black tea powder? Everything comes in tea bags and cannot find the powder.thanks for any help
You want to use instant tea. I used Lipton or the store brand.
Did you use the sweetened instant tea?
yes
When you say instant tea do you mean iced tea mix?
Yes, instant tea powder 🙂
Do you attach a greeting or poem with your jar
Yes!
I remember my mom giving this as a gift back in the 80’s. So good!!! Thinking about using these for wedding favors. How long will the tea stay fresh in a mason jar? Trying to figure out how far in advance we can assemble them. Thanks!
