Can you freeze butter? Yes, you can! Read this tip!

Can you freeze butter?

The answer is Yes. Simply freeze it in its original container or package, and thaw it in the refrigerator when you are ready to use it. Butter does tend to pick up flavors from other strong foods like onions foods, so you may want to add a layer of aluminum foil, plastic wrap or parchment paper or place it away from those items in your freezer.  However I just place mine in a drawer and have never had a problem.  You can also freeze butter in the tubs the same way too.

By freezing you can extend the life by 6 months. Just write the date you put it into the freezer with a permanent marker so you know how long it has been there.

  1. I frequently freeze butter! When I buy a box at the store, I put it immediately into the fridge. I keep my ready-to-use butter on the counter in a Butter Bell. When I’m running low in the Bell, I take a cube out of the freezer, let it soften on the counter, and then put it into the Bell. Super easy and I’ve never had a problem with that.
