50th Anniversary Afternoon Tea
My parents celebrated their 50th Anniversary and I decided to surprise them with a 50th Anniversary Afternoon Tea to commemorate. They enjoy having afternoon tea together, so I thought it was the perfect way to celebrate
We did not let a pandemic stop us. We just kept it as an intimate affair and really enjoyed the time spent together. For this tea we used my Mom’s china, dishes, and glassware that we had on hand. I decided to go with gold and centered the theme around a golden anniversary tea.
I had a great helper, Brittney who is like a daughter to me. She was visiting from out of town and she helped me with the set up and preparations. I couldn’t have done it without her! We spent a few hours plundering through my Mom’s china cabinets while she was at a Doctor’s appointment the day before the tea (perfect timing) and we set up the surprise.
We celebrated Mom and Dad with a special 50th Anniversary Golden themed luncheon tea! They really enjoyed themselves and we did too! I loved being able to create this special celebration for my parents.
50th Anniversary Afternoon Tea:
For the afternoon tea I created the following menu:
Two types of scones, lemon curd, jam and clotted cream
5 types of tea sandwiches – Cucumber, Pimento Cheese, Chicken Salad, Pinwheels and smoked Salmon.
Three desserts – Macaroons, Lemon Cake with Raspberry Filling and Individual Banana Pudding.
We served a variety of hot tea and champagne.
For the centerpiece I had a beautiful yellow flower arrangement made from our local florist (my Mom is allergic to roses) so we used other flowers. I purchased a vintage 50th Anniversary tea pot on ETSY and I printed and framed a photo from their wedding.
For favors I created some photo books of their wedding photos at Walgreens. It was inexpensive and my son enjoyed seeing these as he had never seen them before.
I decided to use a local bakery to make the cake and the macaroons. It was perfect and she did an amazing job with both.
Everyone really enjoyed the tea and we created a memory that will last us all a lifetime. It was better than going out someplace and with our food allergies we were able to be sure that everyone was able to eat and enjoy. I hope this golden anniversary afternoon tea gives you some inspiration.
