Sensory Spelling Practice Idea
My friend Jamie shared with me this idea for how to make spelling practice fun. I wanted to share it with you. This is a great sensory idea and works really well for her boys. If you have a little one with sensory issues or who doesn’t like to practice spelling homework this tip may be great for you. Plus it is a lot of fun!
Sensory Spelling Practice Idea:
Supplies:
- Shaving Cream
- Cookie Sheet
- Drop of food coloring (optional)
Place shaving cream onto the cookie sheet in a thin layer and drop 1 drop of food coloring on. Mix well and coat the entire cookie sheet (a pastry brush works well). Ask your child to write their spelling word by drawing it into the shaving cream.
This is a fun activity and it takes the focus off the fact that you are actually doing homework! You can also use lotion, pudding or liquid soap instead of shaving cream.
Jaime’s boys don’t LOVE homework time but by using this sensory activity she is able to have success without fighting with her boys once they get home from school.
