How to remove casing from sausage
I wanted to share how to remove casing from sausage. This a great tip when you need ground sausage but only have links. I like to use sausage in my Muffin In A Muffin Tin recipe too!
What is a casing?
Casing, sausage casing, or sausage skin is the material that encloses the filling of a sausage. Casings are divided into two categories, natural and artificial.
So basically casing is used to make the sausage create a sausage “link”. I personally like to remove the casing from sausage so that I can use it as “ground sausage” in recipes. It is simple to do.
How to remove casing from sausage:
1. Hold the sausage in your hand.
2. Run a knife down the length of the sausage.
3. Slip off the casing.
4. Use it as ground sausage.
It is nice to use in chili or meatloaf. Here are few recipes you may enjoy.
