Red White and Blue Shortcake
Red White and Blue Shortcake is the perfect dessert for any family gathering or Memorial Day party. I love taking this dessert to Memorial Day parties because it is so simple to make and easy to transport. Plus you can make this scrumptious dessert ahead of time 🙂 It is also a light and refreshing dessert which is perfect for me!
This is easy to make and tastes delicious. I like to serve it in a large clear bowl or punch bowl so that you can see all of the colors. It is perfect for July 4th, Memorial Day or any other patriotic celebration. You can make it the night before and serve it too!
You can make this with a store-bought angel food cake or prepare your own. By using a big clear bowl, you can really see the red, white and blue and it makes for a beautiful dessert. All you need for this recipe is fresh strawberries, fresh blueberries, angel food cake and cool whip. It doesn’t get easier than Red White and Blue Shortcake.
Ingredients
- 2 lb fresh strawberries rinsed and cut in halves
- 2 lb blueberries rinsed
- 1 angelfood cake prepared
- cool whip optional
Instructions
- Using a glass bowl layer the angelfood cake and fruit.
- Put cool whip on top if desired.
- Make sure to keep in fridge until ready to eat.
