Crockpot French Dip Sandwiches

Crockpot French Dip Sandwiches are AMAZING! We love this delicious dinner and it is a great freezer meal too!

Crockpot French Dip Sandwiches are AMAZING! We love this delicious dinner and it is a great freezer meal too.  The best thing is all you need is 2 ingredients! Yes, only two ingredients to put in the crockpot which is a chuck roast and cans of beef consomme.  I made this meal ahead of time as a Freezer Cooking Meal! When it came up on the menu plan I just pulled it out of the freezer the night before and thawed it in the fridge.

To prep as a freezer meal simply place the roast in a resealable gallon-sized freezer bag and pour beef consomme on top. When ready to eat, remove from freezer and thaw in fridge for 24 hours.
Cook on LOW for 8-11 hours. Remove roast from slow cooker and save extra juice for dipping! With 2 forks, shred roast and serve meat on buns.  I love that this is a put it in the crockpot and forget about it all day recipe.  You can leave for a long 10+ hour day and come home to a delicious dinner.

If you are eating low carb this is a great recipe for you!  You can check out the food label here for the beef consomme.  Of course don’t eat with the bun! 🙂   I like to serve this with homemade french fries which is also a great freezer recipe too!  We hope you enjoy this delicious Crockpot French Dip Sandwiches recipe as much as we do!

    1. You put both cans in the crockpot! It is what helps cook the meat. Then use it for marinade 🙂

  1. Yum! Planning to try this this week – I am going to make it fresh (Not do a freeze ahead) – is it best to marinade the meat in the beef consomme ahead of time or can i just throw it together in the crock pot?

  2. 5 stars
My family LOVED these! My littles are 7, 6, 4, 2 and they thought these were the best thing since sliced bread!! I was excited to have something different and a bit more “mature” than spaghetti and mac n cheese! We have already made plans to make this x4 to keep stockpiled in the freezer from here on out. I made the 20 meals in 4 hours, since we don’t like onions I gave all of the ones I couldn’t edit the onions out of to a cousin going thru her fathers funeral and moving her invalid mother to a home, and we kept the rest. We are slowly trying and remaking the ones we like. Its normally SO hard for us to make things like this for us since we don’t like onions. But with these being broken down into individual recipes is GREAT!!

  3. My consomme instructs to add water (that is, if making it as consomme!) do I add water to this, or just the straight consomme from the can? Thanks!

  4. Can you put the beef in the slow cooker frozen? Or should it be thawed first? (I know with chicken recipes it doesn’t matter either way.). Thanks!
