May is National Barbecue Month
Every summer I look forward to barbecuing with friends and family! We are ready to get outside and celebrate summer! May is National Barbecue Month and we kicked it off by grilling some of our best recipes. Improving my grilling skills is going to make this summer that much better! Our family and friends are ready to kick off the poolside grilling season at our home!
Are you familiar with grilling times and temperatures? You may want to brush up on your cooking skills! Or maybe, you do not want too! Wasting money and messing up everyone’s food was terrifying for me! Since May is National Barbecue Month maybe it is time for you to jump in and learn! Check out our mini-grilling guide below.
Grilling Times and Temperatures
- Chicken Halve (bone in or boneless) temperature should be 165°-170°. Direct heat, 4-6 minutes per side.
- Chicken Wings temperature should be 165°-170°. Use indirect heat, cover, and occasionally turn for 25-30 minutes.
- Pork Chops temperature should be 145°. Direct heat, 4 to 6 minutes per side.
- Pork Tenderloin should be 145°. First cook using direct heat for 6-8 minutes turning occasionally, then indirect heat for 10-12 minutes while covered.
- Grilled Shrimp and Scallops grill on direct heat for 2-3 minutes per side.
- 1 inch Fish fillets or steaks grill direct heat 3-5 minutes each side.
- 1/2 to 1 inch Steaks we eat medium rare but Internal temperature of 145° is recommended by the USDA. Direct heat, 4 to 6 minutes per side.
- 1-inch Hamburgers temperature should be 160°. We eat medium rare but Internal temperature of 145° is recommended by the USDA. Direct heat, 5 to 6 minutes per side.
