Equipment
1 Crock pot
Ingredients
1wholeturkey breast (bone in or boneless)
2stickssalted butter
1tsp.salt
1tsp.pepper
Instructions
I place my turkey breast on a plate and let it thaw in the fridge for a few days. Make sure the turkey breast is completely thawed (or use fresh) before cooking it.
When I am ready to cook the turkey, I clean it well and remove any gravy packets or turkey parts that may be placed in it. I leave the skin on my turkey breast, but you can remove yours if you like. I think it adds flavor to cook with it on.
I prefer to rub real butter both on top of the skin and under the skin and then rub my spices all over. I soften my butter and add the spices to the butter before I rub it on. I like to season with 1 TBSP thyme, rosemary, sage, and parsley.
Place the turkey breast in the slow cooker, add 1/2 cup water. Next place the lid on and let your turkey breast cook 8 hours on low.
Then remove and let it sit for 10-20minutes to allow turkey breast to rest. Be sure to “tent” the turkey or lightly cover it with foil while it rests. At this point some people like to place the turkey breast in the oven under the broiler for a few minutes to crisp or brown the skin. I do this and it gives it a great flavor.
Carve and serve with your favorite side dishes.
Notes
The first step is picking out a turkey breast that is 5-7 lbs., but you must keep in mind how big your slow cooker is. I used a 6 QT oblong Crockpot and usually get around a 6 lb. bone-in turkey breast.
