Equipment
1 Crock pot
Ingredients
1wholeBone in Spiral Ham
1/3cuppacked brown sugar
1can pineapple (tid-bits, chunks or rings)
1/2tsp.ground cloves
Instructions
The first step is picking out a ham (bone-in, boneless, spiral it doesn't really matter) that is 6-9 lbs., but you must keep in mind how big your slow cooker is. I used a 6 QT Oblong Crockpot and usually get around a 7lb ham. When I am ready to cook the ham, I clean it well (rinse with warm water) and trim any excess fat that I can. Place the ham in the slow cooker, flat side down.
Next open a can of pineapple and pour juice into a bowl. Add 1/3 cup packed brown sugar to juice and whisk until dissolved. Add 1/2 tsp ground cloves and whisk. Arrange the slices of pineapple on top of the ham and then pour the juice mixture all over the top. Place your lid on top and cook on low for 6-8 hours, really depends on how big your ham is so be sure to check after 4 hours. Remove from the slow cooker and let it rest for 15 minutes before carving. Serve with your favorite trimmings!
Notes
I love making my Ham in the Slow Cooker because I do not have to do any work and it helps take the stress away when cooking on the holidays. By using the slow cooker, you can enjoy your holidays and relax but still prepare a big meal for your family at the same time. It is one of my favorite ways to cook during special occasions and the holidays.
